Return of the Living Dead Comes to Comics for Halloween!

Zombie Cult Classic Arrives With Special 250 Copy Limited Edition “More Brains” Comics!

[Baltimore, Maryland] – The Return of the Living Dead, the 1985 hit zombie film that spawned four sequels and gave the zombie genre a comic undertone, crawls out of the grave with brand new comics from horror house American Mythology!

The initial four-issue mini-series, set in the 1980s, will be a sequel to the original brain munching movie. It is written by S.A. Check (Night of the Living Dead) and James Kuhoric (Tom Holland’s Fright Night), and illustrated by Andrea Arcari (Valentine Bluff’s Massacre). The mini-series features incredible cover artists including Mark Spears, Paul Maitland, Roy Allan Martinez, Andrea Arcari, and Buz Hasson!

American Mythology is celebrating this Halloween season with a special limited edition of the first issue – the “More Brains” edition is limited to just 250 copies of each cover; each issue is serial numbered and comes with a special certificate of authenticity and a More Brains sticker. These books are available now while supplies last – shipping out by Halloween night to backers who order it from the American Mythology website.

“We’re excited to capture the incredible, unique spirit and energy of The Return of the Living Dead in comic book form,” said James Kuhoric – co-writer and President of American Mythology.

Kuhoric most recently wrote Tom Holland’s Fright Night and is no stranger to popular horror franchises himself. He wrote Dynamite’s hit Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash and Army of Darkness before loosing American Mythology upon the world. Since then, he’s written, co-written, and published a wide array of horror-themed comics, including Adam Green’s Hatchet, Silent Night. Deadly Night, and Valentine Bluffs Massacre.

A standard release of the comic book will be listed in the November Previews for January on sale at retail. The “More Brains” Limited Editions are for fans who want an extremely limited collectible and want it now. “Send more comics!”

“In their distinctive take on the zombie genre, you can see a lot of different influences, ranging from legends to EC comics horror. In the movies, it added up to a lot of fun, and our aim is to replicate their energy and enthusiasm while telling truly original stories,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to diving headfirst into another, very different zombie hoard,” said co-writer S.A. Check. “It remains a fantastic genre, and I’m really excited to take things in a direction befitting this horror classic.

Laurel & Hardy Meet The Three Stooges!

What happens when two of the greatest comedy teams of all time are brought together for a once in a lifetime event?  Comic book publisher American Mythology answers that question with a head-slapping, eye-poking, bowler hat-wearing, bone-crunching, piano moving, pratfall fun fest, the likes of which have never appeared before in comics for an event literally 100 years in the making.

The comedy team of Laurel & Hardy is regarded by many as two of the founding fathers of comedy, paving the road for generations of entertainers to follow.  They are loved the world over, and their popularity has stood the test of time with an active and growing fan base.  From their famous bowler hats to their signature tune, “The Cuckoo Song”, the duo has warmed the hearts of generations with the hundreds of bits and routines made famous throughout the 1920’s and on into the 1940’s with classics like “The Music Box”, “Sons of the Desert”, and “Babes in Toyland”, as well as the recent 2018 theatrical release of “Stan & Ollie”.

The Three Stooges are an American tradition that set the bar in terms of physical comedy and whose influence continues to permeate all levels of pop culture to this day.  The Stooges have remained a staple in our culture since they rolled out their first two-reel classic over 85 years ago.  They actively entertained millions of fans worldwide with their own signature brand of silliness for over forty years, and their legacy has only grown exponentially with a near-constant television presence airing such wonderful classic films like “A Plumbing We Will Go”, “Punch Drunks”, and “Three Smart Saps”.

Now, American Mythology Comics, the same company who brought The Three Stooges back into the comics’ spotlight in 2016, and again with a new Laurel & Hardy comic in 2019, is doing what many fans have considered impossible by bringing these two comedic forces of nature together for a special one issue crossover extravaganza coming February 26th to your local comic book shop.
